Hayed Kure from Congressman Curbelo's Office, volunteers Lou Vedros, Karen Witte, and VITA Coordinator Loretta Geotis
On April 5, VITA Coordinator Loretta Geotis and our VITA volunteers assisted Congressman Curbelo's office with a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax preparation event at the Islamorada library. Curbelo sponsored the "Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Permanence Act of 2017" H.R. 2901, to permanently extend the VITA program, which provides free tax preparation services for individuals with an annual income of less than $54,000 and those with limited proficiency in English. The bill passed in the House on April 17, 2018, and goes to the Senate next for consideration.
