Candy Fincke, V.P. of Mariners Hospital, has been installed as chairman of the board of The United Way of the Florida Keys.
Outgoing chair, Andy Griffiths, led the organization during the last two years. Under his leadership, workplace campaigns throughout the Keys were expanded, and contributions up over 23%. The United Way supports 18 non-profit programs Keyswide in 2012, versus 15 in 2011. Griffiths will continue to serve on the United Way board, and is currently running for election to the Monroe County School Board.
“During the time as chairman of the United Way of the Florida Keys, we created a strong positioning statement on how we will impact our community. Our two focuses are access to nutritious food, and early childhood and youth development. Your investments are prioritized to make life easier for working families who struggle due to the high cost of living in Monroe County,” Griffiths said.
Over 100 people attended the United Way’s annual meeting at Hawk’s Cay on August 9, sponsored by Centennial Bank, Lower Keys Medical Center, and Mariners Hospital. Five new board members were installed: marketing consultant Nikki Dunn; John Emery of Lower Keys Medical Center; Maria Jones of the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative; John Spain of Keys Event Management; and Ron Smith of Hawk’s Cay.
