Come join us for fishing films, food, music and fun! At the beautiful outdoor amphitheater on the bay at Founders Park MM87...
Food will be available for purchase starting at 6:30 and films start at sunset (a little before 8pm) Admission is $15 at the gate or $12 online now at IFFF.eventbrite.com. Dave Feder's crew from Islamorada Cultural Events is doing the projection, popular local musician Micah will be performing until the films start, and Key Largo Conch house is serving fabulous menu items. There will also be beer, wine and other beverages.
This year's festival is dedicated to the memory of fishing legend Billy Pate, and we'll start the films with a short excerpt of his greatest catch on film. The feature film is 70's cult film classic Tarpon, shot here in the Keys. Other shorts will include Satori, a recent locally filmed short film by Capt. Will Benson on permit fishing, Musky Country, Red Like Winter (about redfish) and Blue Water about sailfishing. All shorts are from the Fly Fishing Film Tour and Matt Bellinger of Bamboo Charters who hosts a regular local fishing show on Clear Channel will be the MC.
You too can be the star at our event! Submit a film clip by May 14th for our film clip contest at the end of the night! We'll have celebrity judges, and prizes for the top contenders. Decent film quality and high entertainment value is what we are looking for in these maximum 3 minute film clips. If you have a film clip, please email it to United Way of the Florida Keys board member Kara Lundgren here.
Come join the fun! If you would like to do a booth at this event, there will be limited availability but call 305 735-1929 for details. We are also looking for volunteers for everything popcorn sales to beer sales and set up. All proceeds benefit the United Way of the Florida Keys, and we fund 15 non-profit organizations from food pantries to shelters throughout the Keys.
On April 17th we held the latest of two fundraising events for United Way of the Florida Keys produced with the help of Bikers Guide to the Florida Keys. We had over 200 bikers participate in the January event in Key Largo, and about 250 bikers participate in the event in Islamorada starting at the Peterson Harley Davidson Store in Homestead and visiting several restaurants as part of the run. In January, the after party was held at Gilberts in Key Largo.
The after party for the April 17th event was held at Holiday Isle. A fun and rowdy time was had by all! We'd also like to thank Silver Mohawk Productions crew and all sponsor restaurants and businesses that gave prizes and otherwise participated in this successful event. We'll have pictures ready for posting soon, here and on our United Way of the Florida Keys Facebook page! "Friend" us if you haven't already!
