Campaign season at United Way of the Florida Keys is under way! Throughout the fall, President and CEO Kate Bauer-Jones will visit dozens of supporting organizations, schools, businesses, and many other locations to talk about UWFK's work and thank the community for giving back.
During these visits, audiences learn about UWFK's mission to make the Keys a better place for the working families. They are shown how their investment is carefully managed by being distributing to highly vetted, volunteer evaluated non-profits that become our annual group of "Partner Agencies". These nonprofits provide outstanding direct service, using their UWFK grants to deliver long term solutions to pressing community concerns. One example of an outstanding program UWFK funds at a Partner Agency is the food pantry at Burton Memorial Church in Tavernier. United Way funding at Burton provides distribution of over 3000 overflowing bags of groceries each year at a cost of less than three dollars per bag. This means that, because of community workplace campaign donations, roughly 96 hungry individuals per week have access to healthy meals!
Fundamentally, campaign season seeks to both educate the public about what we do to serve working families in the Florida Keys and thank our generous supporters. The work we do would not be possible without the kindness of our community members and the amazing efforts of our Partner Agencies. With your help, United Way of the Florida Keys strongly believes that we can help improve the lives of hard working families and vulnerable children in the community.
Join us today in our mission to become the leader in community caring! Donate, volunteer, or request a UWFK presentation at your business.
