Rental Assistance
Current Rental Assistance Programs include Catholic Charities, CRA, FKOC, KAIR, Samuel's House and Sister Season.
The City of Key West has contracted with United Way of Collier and the Keys (UWCK) for $164,000 to be disbursed for rental assistance, as part of the stop-gap proposal approved by the Commission on January 5. The goal is to stabilize households and retain residents here in Key West, as a result of COVID-19.
  • Assistance is open to residents of the City of Key West, or residents of Stock Island who work in Key West, with proof of significant financial hardship due to COVID-19.
  • If you meet the eligibility screening criteria, the application process requires:
    • Completed Application for each adult in the household
    • Photo ID for all members of the household over the age of 18
    • 2 months of bank statements for checking and savings accounts
    • Proof of any income in the household for the last 2 months (Wages, Unemployment, Child Support, etc.)
    • Copy of lease agreement and Landlord Information form, completed W-9 for landlord
    • Consent to Release Information form
    • Florida Fraud form
    • Affidavit of Financial Support
    • Non-Income Affidavit (if necessary)
  • Payments will be made directly to landlords.
  • Applications are available here, and must be completed in cooperation with ONE of the following agencies: AH Monroe at 305-293-3670, Catholic Charities at 305-292-9790 ext 4, FKOC at 305-293-8189, Samuel's House at 305-296-0240, or Sister Season at 305-304-9828.
  • Apply with one of these agenciees as soon as possible; applications will be accepted until funding is exhausted.
Monroe County has disbursed funding totalling $2,042,942 to Monroe County residents who are behind in their mortgage or rent payments to COVID-19 hardships. This program is now closed as of December 31, 2020, as it was CARES Funding.
CentroCampesino is facilitating the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) which is a federally funded program that may be able to help you with rent/mortgage, utilities, medication, transportation, work supplies and educational assistance. US citizenship is not required. Administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), CSBG allocates funding directly to a network of community action agencies that can assist you with various services to help provide you with economic security and stability during these uncertain times.
