With the community's support, UWCK’s ‘Stuff the Bus’ campaign raised $14,775, and an additional $8,460 was raised through the Publix 'Tools for Back to School' initiative in their checkout lines in Monroe County...that means $23,235 was raised to help students succeed! On October 12 and 13, we had the opportunity to visit all the schools and distribute the funds raised.
UWCK distributed 100% of these funds directly to the schools so that they may purchase the exact supplies their students and classrooms need. In light of COVID-19, this support is needed now more than ever to help children from struggling families and equip schools to safely educate our children.
UWCK works in partnership with Publix to distribute their ‘Tools for Back to School’ gift cards to all Monroe County School District schools, allowing staff to purchase items immediately as well as replenish supplies throughout the year.
United Way of Collier and the Keys’ annual Stuff the Bus program is the largest back to school campaign in Monroe County. It provides supplies for each of our 16 local schools, ensuring all of the 8,700 students have the necessary tools to excel this academic year.
The ‘Stuff the Bus' campaign addresses two of UWCK’s focus areas—serving working families and increasing educational opportunities for children. We are proud and grateful that friends and neighbors in the Keys come together year after year to help local students.
