Our Work Through the Eyes of the Community
“I just wanted to share a story from taking my kids to their second day of school. The principal came out to the car as I dropped them off just to tell me how mature my 11-year-old son has returned to school. I credited it to your YMCA program, just like the summer days, when I picked them up, "Ah Mom, why did you come so early?” It was after 5:00 pm! I love that the kids have a safe and happy place to go after school. I love your staff and the YMCA”

Guillermo is living in a small studio apartment. He is 78 years old but is very able-bodied. He had been working part-time to supplement his social security but lost his job. His social security barely covers his rent. He is lonely and worried about finances. He now comes to KAIR to volunteer which he enjoys. He receives food regularly which frees up his money for other needs. We are working with him to find another part-time job.”

"I am the single mom of Benjamin, a 7-year-old enrolled at Burton Memorial CDC in the school age class. I know that United Way is paying some of my son's weekly fees, and I am so grateful. We are so thankful to the CDC, who assist with my son's class homework and assignments, allowing him to go home confident that all his class work is complete. My work prevents me from spending quality time with him, as I work so hard to pay for our house rent and other basic needs."

Thank you, UWCK, for helping us to have a fun Summer Program at Boys & Girls Club!
Catholic Charities helped us with our rent, at a time where we needed it quickly. They were a godsend and we can't thank them enough!
I am enclosing a few photos of the delicious meals I made with food from SOS. It sure beats eating eggs and pasta and BOGO frozen pizza all the time!
