YOUTH/EDUCATION
FL Keys Guardian ad Litem – “I Am for the Child”
Learn how to volunteer for Florida’s Guardian ad Litem Program and start helping children in your community. Guardian ad Litems speak on behalf of children who have experienced abuse, abandonment, and neglect. Our goal is to help children find their way to a safe, loving, and permanent home. The Guardian ad Litem Program serves all of the Florida Keys (Monroe County).
Volunteer responsibilities include monthly visits with the child in their home placement or school to build a relationship based on trust and mentorship, observing their environment to ensure they are safe, respected, and loved, and partnering with legal staff to advocate for this child’s best interest in the courtroom – effectively being the voice of those who cannot speak for themselves.
Offices are located in Key West, Marathon, and Tavernier. Trainings held in both Key West and Marathon.
