Help can be requested for mortgage, rent and essential utilities IF you are living with an HIV/AIDS diagnosis. You do NOT have to be an AH Monroe client to apply. She’ll start the completely confidential certification and qualification process, and those who meet the criteria will receive prompt funding.

Catholic Charities is temporarily suspending in-person and walk-in services at this time, and the rental assistance program is temporarily on hold.

Centro Campesino

Centro Campesino is providing assistance with utility or rent bills to low income residents. Cases will be made BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, from Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm at 951 Caroline Street, Suite 206-3, Key West, FL 33040.

Center for Independent Living (CIL) of the Keys

For the health and safety of all, no walk-ins at this time. Operations continue during business hours, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, but day-to-day activities will be managed by appointment or remotely.

Christina's Courage

Christina’s Courage continues to provide services for sexual assault survivors. They will still provide forensic exams following assaults, and are providing advocacy and therapy over telehealth and telephone based on the need of the survivor. For questions, please call Rita at (305) 916-0673.

City of Key West

In the interest of public safety, economic stability and long-term recovery, The City of Key West on Sunday issued State of Local Emergency 2020-05, which implements additional protective measures for essential businesses and separation requirements for individuals diagnosed or reasonably believed to be infected with COVID-19. Details of the directive require masks and sanitation in essential businesses.
Due to the presence of counterfeit reentry stickers, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has begun stopping vehicles with reentry stickers at the checkpoint. Motorists with no additional documentation to prove they have a viable reason to be in the Keys will be reminded that the Florida Keys are closed to visitors, and they will be turned around.
City of Key West Transit is suspending bus services until further notice.
The City of Key West remains under a State of Local Emergency. All previous directives remain in effect.

Community Health of South Florida Inc. (CHI)

CHI’s COVID-19 testing continues to be free for those who meet the following testing criteria:
  • If you have recently traveled to any of the high-risk countries
  • If you have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19
  • If you are experiencing the following symptoms: fever, cough or shortness of breath.

Testing will be provided as follows:

Fredrick Douglas Community Center Gym, 111 Olivia Street, Key West, FL 33040 on May 11 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Walk-up. Must be a resident of Monroe County, have ID, and meet testing criteria. (No need to call first for this testing location and no appointment necessary) If you do not meet criteria, CHI is offering a telehealth consult and follow up testing for antibodies, for those that register on site and become a CHI patient.

Martin Luther King/Clinica Campesina Health Center Campus, 74 SW 6th Ave., Homestead, FL 33030 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm starting April 13th. Drive-through only. (No need to call first for this testing location and no appointment necessary)

CHI Marathon Health Center, 2805 Overseas Highway, Marathon, FL 33050 every Saturday from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm via Drive-through BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Must be a resident of Monroe County and meet testing criteria. Call first at (305)216-2107 or email [email protected].

CHI’s health centers remain open during this time as patients are being screened at the entrance for COVID-19 as a precaution for safeguarding the general patient population. Those with symptoms are not allowed inside so that primary care, behavioral health, dental, OB/GYN, pharmacy, vision, radiology and urgent care visits can continue. (only emergency dental visits will occur at this time)

Domestic Abuse Shelter

The Emergency Domestic Violence Shelter is still open, but they are only accepting residents of Monroe County. Outreach Advocates are still conducting phone meetings with survivors and are able to make arrangements if there are individual needs that they may have. Check out their flyer for more details.

Early Learning Coalition

Six child care centers are currently open, and two family day cares are open. Others are planning on opening between now and June 1 depending on when County enters Phase 2.

First responders and health care workers can apply for childcare services for 90 days. The application and guidelines are available on our website www.elcmdm.org.

Anyone needing services should contact the Call Center at 305-646-7220 to be connected with a Team Member, who will work with them to address their needs. Parents can request a list of available providers from their Child Care Resource and Referral unit at 305-646-7220. Availability is limited.

Florida Keys Children's Shelter

Florida Keys Children’s Shelter is still providing all residential and nonresidential services.

Florida Keys Council of the Arts

The Audubon House & Tropical Gardens in partnership with the Florida Keys Council of the Arts, and sponsored by the Mitchell Wolfson Family Foundation, has launched a fund for local artists to receive assistance. This artist relief fund offers stipends of up to $500.00 per applicant.
In line with the Mitchell Wolfson Family Foundation’s mission, the fund is set to support a community enriched with art. All genres of artists - including visual, performing and literary, and street performers - who live in Monroe County may submit an application through The Florida Keys Council of the Arts website, www.keysarts.com. Funds will be distributed on a rolling basis and applications will be open starting April 22, and are due no later than May 4, 2020.

Florida Keys Healthy Start Coalition

All in-person group meetings have moved to virtual platforms: virtual education activities such as craft time, storytime, field trips, move & groove, snack time, and family fun activities are being offered throughout the week on the Coalition's social media pages. Breastfeeding support, childbirth education, toddlers say "hello", and new parent support classes are being offered through secure, private virtual meetings. Links can be obtained through social media, website, or by emailing [email protected]. The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County's Healthy Start program continues to serve clients virtually or telephonically. FKHSC administrative and program offices are closed, but the team is always available by phone to provide information, support, assistance, and guidance for pregnant women and families in need.
They are currently able to help with: transportation to prenatal/infant medical services, emergency diapers, formula, breastfeeding support, emergency toddler nutrition, child safety needs, and referral to other community services. Florida Keys Outreach Coalition

FKOC's Quick Assist program is offering assistance of up to $250 to households/families to pay for essential needs such as food (gift cards to meet special dietary needs), childcare for essential employees (healthcare workers, etc.), limited necessary medical care, prescriptions, and critical safety net services. These services can be accessed by calling 305-295-7741 in the Lower Keys and 305-916-5454 in the Middle to Upper Keys.

Grace Jones Community Center

Grace Jones is closed until further notice.

Guidance/Care Center

As a critical need facility, they remain open at all sites for services during normal hours. Walk in crisis: 8-5 pm Monday thru Friday in Key Largo & Key West, or 24 hours at the Marathon site. The crisis number for all Monroe County Residents is 305-434-7660 #8. View their brochure.
Middle Keys Transportation is still providing dialysis and other critical medical transport and other support trips (grocery shopping), Monday-Friday. Residents qualify based on age of 60+, income or disability. For more information, call 305-434-7660 #2
Outpatient group therapy is cancelled and moved to individual therapy, available via Telemed.
Personal Growth Center in Marathon is closed and contact for this program will be by phone.
Independence Cay

Still providing a soup kitchen and transitional housing but the process has changed for the soup kitchen, in order to keep everyone safe.

JOY Center in the Upper Keys

KAIR

As a partner of the Miami Diaper Bank, residents in Marathon can get diapers from KAIR.

Keys AHEC

Keys AHEC Health Centers is now offering Telehealth Medical Visits right from your Home. Patients may stay at home and have their health visit conducted via our HIPAA compliant video system. The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County is offering the following services by appointment only through the end of April 2020. All locations are otherwise closed to the general public and to those without an appointment.

Monroe County School District

Parent Support Group: Parents can email the Monroe County District Lead School Social Worker Erin Williams at [email protected] if interested and she will send them an agreement to sign and return. She will then assign them to a group, each led by one of the school social workers. The social worker will get in touch with group members and set up the first session. Sessions will be via Google Meet and will also be available in Creole and Spanish. If you come across a parent that does not have internet or is not comfortable with Google Meet, please have them call or text Erin via her google voice number (305-563-6987) and she will provide them with a call in number for the session. Monroe Women, Infants, and Children

The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County’s WIC (Special Supplemental Food Program for Women Infants and Children) offers food/nutrition/breastfeeding assistance to low income pregnant women or families with infants or children under the age of 5 years who reside in Monroe County. Those individuals/families who meet this criteria and are experiencing a loss of income due to the COVID-19 crisis are encouraged to sign up for WIC to help with food costs. Families that meet this criteria and are currently receiving unemployment or Medicaid benefits automatically qualify financially for WIC benefits. Others will need to provide proof of income and/or explain income loss to qualify.

Womankind

In light of the current COVID-19 situation, Womankind is adjusting their office hours for the month of April. They will be serving patients Mondays through Thursdays 8am - 5pm and closing their office on Fridays for the next 4 weeks - ending on May 1.
During this time Womankind will be fully operational, providing their full range of family planning and gynecological services and limited primary care.
They have added telemedicine services when appropriate.
They are being diligent about patient and staff safety with careful vetting of those coming into their center and the continuous and consistent disinfecting and sanitizing of all office surfaces.
